Electrolux Refrigerator OP (Fresh Food) Error Code

Error code OP (Fresh Food)
Appliance Refrigerator

Reading OP in the fresh food window

The fresh food thermistor senses temperature in the refrigerator compartment. When OP shows in that window, its circuit is open.

Where it applies

Three service data sheets describe it for Electrolux refrigerators that put the freezer below, or that have ice-and-water, and carry a UI board. A mid-level thermistor and an upper-level one are told apart in only one of the three.

Who does what

  • A technician puts the unit in diagnostic mode, sets the temperature on screen against a gauge reading and watches for OP, which marks an open sensor.
  • Before any panel is opened, the power cord has to be out of the wall.
  • For the owner there is nothing to adjust. Jot down the model number and the window carrying the OP.

Related

The freezer equivalent is OP in the freezer window. A shorted fresh food sensor reads SH in the fresh food window, and PF marks a power failure.

What this code means

OP in the fresh food display window indicates that the fresh food thermistor, the compartment sensor, reads as open.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
