A gas tower adds one more thing to check than its electric cousin, and one rule that overrides every other tip.
The ELTG7300AW is a current 300 Series gas laundry tower. The G in the prefix marks gas, so the dryer half burns gas for heat while the washer below runs on electricity and water. It suits homes with a gas stub in the laundry closet, common in older San Francisco buildings.
If you smell gas, leave the home straight away without touching switches, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not try to find the leak. Do not return until you are told it is safe. A burning smell or sparks is different: switch the tower off at the breaker and leave it off.
On a gas dryer this usually leads to the ignition path. A technician checks whether the igniter glows, whether the gas valve coils open, whether a flame sensor or safety switch interrupts the burn, and whether poor exhaust is tripping the high-limit protection. We do not touch gas fittings casually; those checks happen with proper tools and, where needed, a shutoff.
The gas line, the flexible connector and the vent all run behind a closed cabinet. Landlords should keep a record of who last moved the stack. A moved tower with a kinked connector is a risk we address before anything else.
A gas dryer draws combustion air from the room, so a tightly shut closet door with no gap can starve it. If your tower lives behind a solid door, leave it open during a cycle and tell us how it is enclosed. That detail changes where we start looking.
The model plate is usually in the washer door frame or inside the dryer opening. Compare with the electric twin ELTE7300AW and the sibling ELTG7600AW. The G marks a gas laundry tower. The dryer half uses gas for heat and electricity for its controls.
Leave immediately, avoid switches, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.
It may be, but airflow and safety switches can stop ignition too, so the cause is confirmed during diagnosis.
No. Leave the fittings and connector to a technician.
