About this model

Model overview

The ECFI3068AS is a 30″ electric induction range, currently sold as an Electrolux model. In the model number, ECFI reads as an induction range, so the cooking surface heats the pan itself rather than the glass, and the oven below runs on electricity too.

Finding the label

The data label on a range like this is usually on the oven frame, visible when the door is open, or along the edge of the storage drawer opening. Photograph it before we arrive.

Complaints we hear on this induction range

  • One cooking zone stays cold or cuts out while the others keep working.
  • A pan is rejected as unsuitable even though it worked yesterday.
  • The touch controls ignore taps, beep on their own or react after a spill.
  • The oven does not come up to its setting, or the display shows an F code.

What a visit on an induction range involves

Induction surfaces are electronic. Under each zone sits a coil and a power board that talks to the control panel, and a fault can sit in the coil, the board, a temperature sensor or the wiring between them. We start with what the range tells us: the code on the display, which zones misbehave, and whether the trouble follows a certain pan. Then a technician checks the supply to the range and tests the suspect parts one at a time. Nothing is replaced until you have the written estimate and have said yes.

Cookware matters on this surface. A warped base, a very small pan on a large zone or a pan with a worn-off bottom can cause a zone to refuse heat. Tell us which pans fail. Our article on an induction zone that does not detect the pan walks through that split in detail.

Installation notes

In older San Francisco flats the circuit behind a range may be shared or aging, and a loose supply connection or a tripped breaker can mimic a failed part.

Codes you may see

Electrolux ranges report faults as F codes. Write down exactly what the display shows, then compare it with the meanings in our error code library. A dash on the display means the controls are locked, which is a setting, not a fault; see the dash code. A door-lock fault is explained at F90, and cooktop lock-out at F40.

What you can check yourself

  1. Look at the breaker for the range and reset it once if it has tripped.
  2. Try a flat-bottomed pan that you know is magnetic on the cold zone.
  3. Read and write down any code before you power the range down once.

Leave panels in place. If you notice a burning smell, switch the range off at the breaker.
