A wide glass surface with many zones: finding which side or which zone has the fault.

About this model

Model overview

The ECCI3668AS is a current 36″ electric induction cooktop, the wider counterpart of the ECCI3068AS. More width brings extra zones and more electronics, so a fault is often limited to one section rather than the entire surface.

Left side, right side

Electrolux cooktop codes frequently name a side of the surface. There are separate codes for left-side and right-side problems, such as 31 for the left generator, 71 for the right, power supply defects on the left and on the right. Noting which side is affected is the most useful thing you can give us.

Over-temperature and sensor codes

Inductor sensor codes name a zone: left front, left rear, right rear or right front. A break entry means the sensor circuit is open, and a too-hot entry means it reads high; see 51 and 61 as examples. We use these as pointers and confirm by testing, since a sensor reading can be wrong for several reasons.

Common complaints

  • One section of the glass stops heating.
  • A zone heats at a lower power than its neighbor; compare the guide on a weak induction zone.
  • Display lights flicker or a key seems stuck.
  • The cooktop turns itself off when several zones are on together.

Counter and cabinet considerations

A surface this wide needs a large cutout and often sits over a pair of drawers or a built-in oven. Ventilation beneath it keeps electronics within a safe range, so stored items pressed against the underside can cause overheating shutdowns. For a heavy stone counter, removing the cooktop is a planned job, not a quick step, which is another reason we diagnose from above first.

What happens at the visit

We check what the display reports and verify the supply feeding the cooktop. Then the technician tests the affected section’s parts with the surface powered carefully and as little disassembly as possible. After the diagnosis you get the written estimate, and you decide.

What you can check

  1. Look at the breaker.
  2. Remove pans and wipe the glass dry.
  3. Take stored items away from the cabinet space under the counter, if it is accessible without tools.
  4. Write down the exact code.

Do not open the cooktop. Switch off at the breaker if there is a burning smell.
