Electrolux ELVG7600AB Gas Dryer Repair

Heat that cycles on and off at odd moments on a gas dryer is often a sensing issue. The ELVG7600AB has two temperature sensors to check.

About this model

Model overview

The ELVG7600AB is a gas dryer from the top-load-pair group, a current model with an efficiency-program availability date of October 2026. Its control reads air temperature at the inlet and the outlet and decides when to light and shut the flame.

When readings go wrong

If a thermistor reads open or shorted, the board cannot trust the air temperature and may refuse to light, light briefly, or stop the cycle. That can look like a gas problem even though the gas side is working. Published meanings: Electrolux dryer E71 for an outlet control thermistor open circuit, Electrolux dryer E72 for the outlet short circuit, Electrolux dryer E73 for the inlet open circuit, Electrolux dryer E74 for the inlet short circuit.

How it differs from a burner fault

A burner fault tends to be all-or-nothing: no flame, no heat. A thermistor fault is more erratic. It may show heat on one cycle and none on the next, or a code that appears after the dryer has been running a while. Lint on the sensor housing can also give odd readings, so cleanliness matters.

Gas safety

If gas is smelled, go outside, do not switch anything, and call the gas utility or 911. Never test, adjust or tighten the gas connection yourself.

What you can safely do

  • Clean the lint screen after every load.
  • Look at the exterior vent flap during a cycle.
  • Note the code and how long into the cycle it appeared.
  • Do one controlled breaker reset at most.

What we do on the visit

Starting from the ELVG7600AB label, we test the sensors, the vent and then the gas valve circuit, in that order, because a bad reading can mask a healthy burner. A written estimate follows the diagnosis and nothing is repaired without your approval. More at Electrolux dryer repair and Electrolux dryers; the symptom side is covered in dryer stops when warm.

Keeping sensors clean

Lint that slips past the screen coats the sensor housing over time and nudges readings. Cleaning the screen after each load, and wiping the screen slot, keeps that to a minimum. A technician can also clear the housing area during a visit and see whether the readings settle before replacing any part.
