Overview

What we mean by the Electrolux dishwasher lineup

Most Electrolux dishwashers are built-in tubs that slide under a counter and connect to a water line, a drain hose and a power supply. The family splits mainly by width. The 24-inch group includes the ICON line E24ID75SPS, the EDSH4944BS, and three listing families: EDSH4944CS, EDSP4944CS and EDSR4932. For narrow kitchens there is an 18-inch tub, the EDSR1832 family. For every family listing the final letters of the label vary by finish and version, so the number you read off your own machine is what matters.

Narrow 18-inch dishwashers turn up often in San Francisco apartments where the cabinet run is short. The 24-inch machines are the usual choice in houses and renovated condos.

Finding the model label

The label is usually on the inside edge of the door frame or along the side of the tub opening, visible once the door is open. On some units it is on the front edge of the door liner. Take a photo before the technician arrives; it shortens the first conversation considerably.

What owners report

Dishes come out dirty or cloudy

Cloudy glass, grit and a film on plastics usually trace back to the filter system, the wash arms or the way the machine is loaded rather than to a dead component. Our article on cloudy glasses after a cycle separates the possibilities.

The detergent pod is still there

A pod that does not dissolve can mean the dispenser door is blocked by a tall dish, or that the water is not reaching the dispenser as it should. See the pod left in the dispenser for the order we check things.

Water pooling at the bottom

Some standing water under the filter can be normal after a cycle; a full basin or a lingering odor is not. We describe how to tell the difference in water left below the filter. A drain that backs up from a kitchen sink or disposal is another frequent source.

Leaks and flood alarms

If the machine stops and a leak message appears, water has reached the sensor beneath the tub. The source might be a door seal, a hose connection under the sink or an over-sudsed load. Do not keep restarting it.

No heat or poor drying

Dry results depend on heating, the drying fans and damper, and the final rinse. A technician checks which of these is not working before suggesting a part.

Codes the display can show

These dishwashers report faults as short codes, and the meaning depends on the exact entry. A few that owners ask about:

  • i10: water supply problem, meaning not enough water or no incoming supply detected
  • i20: the dishwasher did not drain completely
  • i30: water leak detected by the anti-flood protection
  • i40: clogged filter or sump
  • CL: door open or not fully closed and latched
  • Hd: heat delay, which is not an error

The wider error code library has the rest, including the Er series. Write the code down exactly, including capitalization.

Checks you can do from the outside

  • Close the door firmly and listen for the latch; clean the door gasket and the edge it seals against.
  • Look at the kitchen sink: a clogged sink or a full disposal can block the dishwasher drain.
  • Remove the lower rack, take out the filter at the bottom of the tub and rinse off food debris.
  • Confirm the supply valve under the sink is open.
  • Check the breaker or GFCI. Some kitchens share the circuit with a disposal.
  • Do one controlled power reset from the breaker or wall switch.

Never remove the lower access panel, work on wiring, or run a machine you suspect is leaking. Burning smell or sparks: power off at the breaker.

When to book a visit

If the drain, the water supply and the filter checks leave the symptom unchanged, or if a leak code returns, our Electrolux dishwasher repair page explains the visit. We diagnose before any repair, provide a written estimate, and repair nothing without your approval.
